What's New on Prime Video NZ in October 2026: Carrie, The Terminal List and More
Prime Video's October in New Zealand is led by Carrie, Mike Flanagan's eight-episode Stephen King series, on Wednesday 7 October, and The Terminal List Season 2 with Chris Pratt on Wednesday 21 October. Amazon says both, along with the month's other headline originals, launch in more than 240 countries and territories.
Amazon doesn't publish New Zealand release times for these, so this list sticks to dates. Every date comes from Amazon's own announcement for that title, and TVmaze lists the same dates for the series.
Two of the month's three big series drop every episode on day one. Helluva Boss is the exception, releasing in batches over three Wednesdays, so it's the one to leave until the end of the month if you'd rather binge.

Carrie (Prime Video, 7 October)
All eight episodes arrive at once. Flanagan, who made Midnight Mass, turns King's 1974 debut into a series for the first time, with Summer H. Howell as Carrie White. In this version Carrie has spent her life in seclusion and only starts high school after her father's death, just as her telekinetic powers surface.
Samantha Sloyan, Siena Agudong and Matthew Lillard are also in the cast. Amazon points out that Brian De Palma's film adaptation turns 50 this year, so the series arrives on an anniversary.
The Terminal List Season 2 (Prime Video, 21 October)
Chris Pratt is back as Navy SEAL James Reece, and again all eight episodes land on the same day. This season adapts True Believer, Jack Carr's second Reece novel, and Amazon describes it as a globe-trotting espionage story that runs from the Indian Ocean across Africa and the Middle East into Europe.
Season 1 came out in July 2022, more than four years ago. If you need a refresher, Amazon says Season 1 and the prequel The Terminal List: Dark Wolf are both streaming now.
Helluva Boss Season 3, Part 1 (Prime Video, from 14 October)
Vivienne Medrano's adult animated comedy about a demon-run assassination business returns with seven episodes. Unlike the two dramas above, it's staggered: three episodes on Wednesday 14 October, two on 21 October and the last two on 28 October. The first two seasons, 20 episodes in all, are already on the service.

Masterplan (Prime Video, 16 October)
Stanley Tucci plays a legendary thief who wants the Mona Lisa. He recruits two young strangers for the job, Chiara, an Italian cybercrime expert, and Jay, a French explosives specialist, then tells them they're long-lost siblings and he's their father. Simona Tabasco, from The White Lotus Season 2, and Victor Belmondo co-star. Thomas Vincent, who directed episodes of Reacher, is behind the camera on this French-Italian Prime original.
It's the lighter of October's two films, and at a single sitting it's an easy Friday night pick for anyone who has already worked through Carrie.
Apocalypse Z: New World (Prime Video, 30 October)
The Spanish zombie sequel moves the story to the Canary Islands, now Europe's last refuge after the outbreak. Its 2024 predecessor, Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End, ranks among Prime Video's most-watched titles internationally, according to Amazon, and this one is timed for the day before Halloween.
Looking ahead to November
One date is already set for next month. Amazon says Perfect Liars, its adaptation of the hit novel, arrives on Friday 20 November in more than 240 countries and territories. We'll fold it into the November version of this page, which goes up in late October at this same address.
HBO Max through Prime Video
HBO Max launched in New Zealand on Tuesday 16 June as a standalone service and as a Prime Video channel. HBO Max's own New Zealand site lists Prime Video Channels among the ways to sign up, so HBO's October releases can sit in the same app as Carrie. One more change for Kiwi subscribers: Amazon told New Zealand members that Prime Video would start showing limited ads in 2025, with an ad-free option at extra cost. Live sport keeps its ads either way.

Kill Jackie, the Catherine Zeta-Jones thriller due on Prime Video in the UK on 2 October, is left off the list above because its New Zealand release is not yet confirmed.
