Every Streaming Service in New Zealand: What Each One Costs in 2026

The cheapest way to stream in New Zealand is free: TVNZ+ and ThreeNow cost nothing and carry ads, and the cheapest paid plan on the services' own price pages is Disney+ Standard with Ads at NZ$9.99 a month. We checked every price below on Thursday 24 September 2026, and this page gets updated whenever one changes.

All prices are in New Zealand dollars. Where we couldn't read a current NZ price from the service's own page, we've left it blank rather than repeat an old figure.

How much does each streaming service cost in NZ?

Which streaming services are free in NZ?

Two big ones. TVNZ+ carries TVNZ 1 and TVNZ 2 programmes on demand plus live channels, and TVNZ's site pitches it plainly as free movies, shows, news and sport. ThreeNow does the same job for Three; it describes itself as an ad-supported free streaming platform, and it's operated by Sky Free Limited, the Sky subsidiary that took over Three in August 2025.

Free here means paid for by adverts. Both are where New Zealand's local hits live, including Taskmaster NZ on TVNZ+, whose Season 7 final is on Tuesday 13 October, and past seasons of The Block Australia on ThreeNow.

How much is Disney+ in New Zealand?

Three tiers. Disney+ Standard with Ads is $9.99 a month, Standard is $18.99 a month or $189.99 a year, and Premium is $25.99 a month or $259.99 a year, per Disney+'s New Zealand page.

Paying yearly saves real money on the ad-free plans. By our maths, Premium works out $51.89 cheaper over 12 months ($311.88 monthly versus $259.99 up front), and Standard $37.89 cheaper ($227.88 versus $189.99).

What does HBO Max cost in NZ?

HBO Max has two plans. Standard costs $15.99 a month or $159.99 a year and streams on two devices at once in Full HD. Premium costs $20.99 a month or $209.99 a year, with four devices and 4K. HBO says the yearly price saves 17% against 12 monthly payments.

What does Neon cost now?

Sky's streaming service has a Basic with Ads plan at $14.99 a month and a Standard plan at $23.99 a month, going by the terms on Neon's help centre. Its Annual Plan is $239.99, which Neon says is 16% less than paying the Standard price monthly.

The plans differ in ads, too. Neon's help centre says Basic with Ads gets video ads during playback, while Standard and Annual only get still ads when you pause on a TV. Standard allows two screens at once and up to five profiles.

Basic with Ads isn't the stripped-down tier it used to be. When Neon introduced ads in January 2024, it upgraded that plan to HD with two streams at once and five profiles. You can also rent new-release films on Neon without any subscription, paying per title.

How much is Apple TV in NZ?

NZ$17.99 a month after a seven-day free trial for new subscribers, per Apple's New Zealand page. Apple now sells the service simply as Apple TV, so older articles may still call it Apple TV+.

What about Netflix, Prime Video and Sky?

We couldn't read current New Zealand prices from the official pages for these three on this check, so the table points you to their own sites. For Prime Video, Amazon has confirmed that shows and films in New Zealand now carry limited ads, with an ad-free option at extra cost.

Which paid service gives you the most for the money?

That depends on what you watch, so here's what each price actually buys. Disney+'s New Zealand page includes live ESPN sport in the subscription, and it also has the cheapest paid entry point. HBO Max is HBO's own service, with two tiers split by screens and picture quality. Neon pairs Sky's streaming catalogue with pay-per-title movie rentals, and Apple TV keeps to a single monthly price.

If you only want one paid service, start from the shows you care about and check our monthly lists before you subscribe. A month of Standard with Ads on Disney+ costs less than a month of any other paid plan we could confirm.

What's the cheapest way to get both Disney+ and HBO Max?

Monthly with ads where you can: Disney+ Standard with Ads plus HBO Max Standard comes to $25.98 a month. If you'd rather pay yearly, Disney+ Standard ($189.99) and HBO Max Standard ($159.99) add up to $349.98, about $29.17 a month, and you drop Disney's ads in the process.
