Moving Houses NZ: TVNZ 1 on Sunday Nights, Andy Ellis and Where to Stream

Moving Houses is on TVNZ 1 on Sunday nights and streams on TVNZ+, with former All Black Andy Ellis presenting. TVNZ's show page gives the new-episode slot as Sundays at 7.30pm, and the next Sunday in the Freeview guide, read on Tuesday 20 October, is 25 October, when the evening episode is listed at 7pm to 8pm and described as the season finale. The Sunday 18 October listings were 7.30pm to 8.30pm, with a different episode at 1pm.
What channel is Moving Houses on in NZ?
TVNZ 1, which is free-to-air, with TVNZ 1 +1 running an hour behind it. TVNZ's page for the show carries the line “New episodes Sundays 7.30pm” and lists three seasons. In the Freeview guide we read on Friday 16 October, around 12.45pm, Moving Houses turns up on one day only in the eight days to Friday 23 October: Sunday 18 October. The guide we read on Tuesday 20 October, open to Tuesday 27 October, has it on one day only as well: Sunday 25 October. It isn't listed on TVNZ 2, Duke, Three or any other channel in either read, and there's no weeknight or Saturday showing.
| Date (NZ) | Channel | Time | Episode in the guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday 18 October | TVNZ 1 | 1.00pm to 2.00pm | Sumner |
| Sunday 18 October | TVNZ 1 +1 | 2.00pm to 3.00pm | Sumner |
| Sunday 18 October | TVNZ 1 | 7.30pm to 8.30pm | Taranaki |
| Sunday 18 October | TVNZ 1 +1 | 8.30pm to 9.30pm | Taranaki |
| Sunday 25 October | TVNZ 1 | 1.00pm to 2.00pm | Taranaki |
| Sunday 25 October | TVNZ 1 +1 | 2.00pm to 3.00pm | Taranaki |
| Sunday 25 October | TVNZ 1 | 7.00pm to 8.00pm | Season finale (“Revisit”) |
| Sunday 25 October | TVNZ 1 +1 | 8.00pm to 9.00pm | Season finale (“Revisit”) |
On Sunday 18 October that was one episode in the afternoon and a different one in the evening, each repeated an hour later on the +1 channel. On Sunday 25 October the guide has the Taranaki synopsis again at 1pm, the same one it gave the 7.30pm episode a week earlier, and a different listing at 7pm.
What are the Sunday 18 October episodes about?
The guide's one-line synopses are the only episode detail we have, so that's all we pass on. The 7.30pm episode is Taranaki: Martin and Jess have found a two-storey house they want on their farm, and the guide says narrow country roads, wild weather and road slips put the whole move in jeopardy. For Sunday 25 October the 7pm listing is described as a season finale: a special episode that returns to some of the previous moves whose owners’ renovations were derailed by cyclones, council delays and wild weather. The 1pm episode on 18 October is Sumner: Gigi and Matt plan to replace a draughty cottage with a relocatable home, and house mover Grant has to get it through tight streets, trees and powerlines.

Is the 1pm Sunday showing new or a repeat?
TVNZ doesn't say. Its page names Sunday at 7.30pm as the new-episode slot, and the guide doesn't mark either showing as new or as a repeat. What the guide does show is that the two episodes differ, so the afternoon one isn't a straight replay of that night's.
Who presents Moving Houses?
Andy Ellis. 1News reported in February 2024 that the former All Black was taking over from Clarke Gayford, who had hosted the first two seasons, for season three. TVNZ's page still describes the show as former All Black Andy Ellis helping New Zealanders relocate their dream homes.
Where can I stream Moving Houses in NZ?
On TVNZ+, free with an account, where the show's page lists three seasons. Our page on what each NZ streaming service costs sets TVNZ+ beside ThreeNow and the paid services, and the Freeview versus Sky guide covers why TVNZ 1 itself needs no subscription.
What else is on TVNZ 1 on a Sunday night?
On 18 October the guide had Hyundai Country Calendar from 7pm, which ran straight into Moving Houses at 7.30pm, and then the season finale of A Remarkable Place to Die from 8.30pm to 10.25pm. On 25 October the guide has Moving Houses at 7pm, then Ludwig from 8pm and Death Valley from 9.10pm, and no Country Calendar on TVNZ 1 that evening. Our Country Calendar page and the A Remarkable Place to Die guide go through those two.
What isn't confirmed about this run of Moving Houses?
TVNZ hasn't published how many episodes the run has or the date of the last one, so we give neither. TVNZ's show page still reads “New episodes Sundays 7.30pm” and says nothing about a last episode; only the guide calls the Sunday 25 October episode a season finale, and that guide reaches Tuesday 27 October, so we can't see any later Sunday. The 1News line-up story of 14 January 2026 listed Moving Houses among the shows returning this year, without a start date or a season number, and we haven't found TVNZ numbering this run.
