The Rings of Power in NZ: Season 3 Date on Prime Video, Seasons 1 and 2 on TVNZ+

The Rings of Power season 3 is set to premiere on Prime Video on 11 November 2026, and seasons 1 and 2 are on TVNZ+ in New Zealand, where TVNZ's page for the show is headed “Free to NZ for the first time!”. Prime Video hasn't published a New Zealand start time that we could find, so which day the first episode lands here is not yet confirmed.
When does The Rings of Power season 3 start in NZ?
Prime Video announced the date on 11 May 2026 at Amazon's upfront presentation in New York. The press release, which TheOneRing.net printed in full, says Prime Video confirmed that the third season “will premiere on November 11, 2026”. Variety Australia and TVLine reported the same date, and TVLine called it a Wednesday.
The release gives no time of day and no country-by-country list, and we haven't found a New Zealand time from Prime Video. That matters because a release dated in the United States can land on the next calendar day here, so we haven't written a New Zealand day or hour.
Where can I watch seasons 1 and 2 in NZ?
On TVNZ+. The show's page there lists two seasons under the headline “Free to NZ for the first time!” and describes the series as the prequel set thousands of years before The Hobbit. TVNZ+ is free with an account. Our streaming prices page sets it against ThreeNow, Prime Video and the other paid services.
TVNZ's page doesn't mention season 3 or Prime Video, so we can't say whether season 3 will come to TVNZ+ later.
Is The Rings of Power on free-to-air TV in NZ?
Not in the Freeview guide we read on Friday 16 October, around 12.45pm. It has no Rings of Power listing on TVNZ 1, TVNZ 2, Duke, Three or any other channel for the eight days from Friday 16 to Friday 23 October, so the streaming page is the only place the first two seasons appear.

Do I need Prime Video for season 3?
The announcement names Prime Video as the home of season 3, and nothing we read puts it anywhere else in New Zealand. What it costs here is on our streaming prices page, and our monthly Prime Video NZ list tracks what arrives on that service.
How many episodes does season 3 have?
Not yet confirmed. The announcement we read gives no episode count and no release pattern, such as an opening batch followed by weekly episodes. It describes season 3 as set several years after season 2, at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron.
