Bluey Australia in NZ: When It's On TVNZ 2 and Where to Stream It on TVNZ+

Updated (28 Oct): Disney's March 2026 release still leaves New Zealand out of the Disney+ deal and JustWatch's NZ listing shows no Disney+ entry, so the Disney+ answer is now settled as no; the film has a cinema date (6 August 2027, Thursday 5 August in NZ per Flicks) but no New Zealand broadcaster yet.

Bluey, the Australian cartoon, is on TVNZ 2 on weekday mornings in New Zealand and all three seasons stream on TVNZ+ at no charge. In the Freeview guide for Sunday 11 October to Friday 16 October 2026 it's listed at 6.50am on Sunday, 8.15am on Monday and 8.10am from Tuesday to Friday. The episodes in that week first screened in Australia in 2019 and 2020, so New Zealand isn't waiting on anything new.

What time is Bluey on TVNZ 2?

Around ten past eight on school mornings, with an early one on Sunday. We read the guide on Saturday 10 October and it was open as far as Saturday 17 October. Every Bluey listing in it is on TVNZ 2, and neither Saturday has one.

The Australian dates come from TVmaze's episode list for the ABC Kids run. It doesn't carry an episode under the exact name “Feather Wand”, so we've left that cell unmatched instead of guessing.

Two things stand out. Monday starts five minutes later than the other weekdays, and Tuesday squeezes in two episodes. A Bluey episode runs about seven minutes, so a 20-minute slot is one story plus whatever TVNZ 2 puts around it.

Where can I stream Bluey in NZ?

TVNZ+. The show page there says “3 Seasons” and files it under Kids and Preschool. You need a login, there's no subscription, and it plays with ads. It works in a browser, on a phone and through the smart TV app.

That's the reason most families never need the 8.10am slot. 1News's round-up of 2025 viewing put Bluey third on TVNZ+ for the whole year, with 41,065,265 streams. Only 1News at Six and The Rookie were ahead of it.

Is Bluey on Disney+ in New Zealand?

Disney's own wording says no, and it repeated that wording in 2026. In a September 2024 press release Disney described the series as airing and streaming to “U.S. and global audiences (outside of Australia, New Zealand and China)” through its deal with BBC Studios. New Zealand is one of the three places left out.

Disney used the same carve-out in its 12 March 2026 release about the minisodes coming to Disney+: the series “airs and streams to U.S. and global audiences (outside of Australia, New Zealand and China)”. JustWatch's New Zealand page for Bluey, read on Wednesday 28 October, lists TVNZ+ (free with ads) and Amazon Video (to buy) and has no Disney+ entry. Disney+ NZ's own catalogue pages wouldn't open for us, so if you already pay for Disney+, a search in the app is the final check. How far behind Australia is New Zealand?

For this show the gap doesn't matter much right now. TVmaze still has the series as “To Be Determined”, and the TVNZ 2 episodes in the table are five and six years old. They're repeats in both countries.

That makes Bluey the opposite of the Australian soaps and reality shows, where the delay is the whole question. Home and Away on TVNZ 2 runs weeks behind Seven, and The Block Australia has its own page for the New Zealand channel and start date. The rest are under Aussie shows in NZ.

When is the Bluey movie coming out?

Friday 6 August 2027, in cinemas. The Walt Disney Company said in December 2024 that the film would land in cinemas in 2027 under the Disney banner and stream on Disney+ after its theatrical run, and the official Bluey site has since put a date on it: BBC Studios and Walt Disney Studios announced that the feature-length film “will be released in cinemas August 6, 2027”. Flicks lists the New Zealand cinema date as Thursday 5 August 2027. It's produced by Ludo Studio, the Brisbane company behind the series, with BBC Studios.

The same statement said the film will also go to ABC iview and ABC Kids in Australia after cinemas. It didn't name a New Zealand broadcaster, and as of Wednesday 28 October neither Disney nor TVNZ has announced one, so we'll update this page once a New Zealand broadcaster for the film is named.

Do I need an aerial or Sky to watch it?

No. TVNZ 2 is free-to-air on Freeview through an aerial or a dish, and Sky carries the channel as well, but TVNZ+ over the internet covers the same show. Freeview vs Sky sets out what each option gets you.

TVNZ 2 also has a one-hour delay channel on some platforms. We didn't see a separate Bluey listing on any other Freeview channel in the guide for this week.

No. The ones we could match for the week of 12 October first aired in Australia between April 2019 and November 2020.
